It is commonly mislabeled as “Selenite” within the crystal industry, however Satin Spar and Selenite are both forms of the same mineral family, gypsum. True Selenite is typically transparent and glass-like, while Satin Spar has the silky, luminous appearance and natural chatoyancy seen in these pieces.
