Black Amethyst is a darker variety of Amethyst, with its deeper colouring typically caused by mineral inclusions such as Hematite and other iron-rich minerals. It carries the calming and intuitive qualities associated with Amethyst alongside a more grounding energy, making it a lovely crystal for creating a peaceful, settled atmosphere.

Amethyst forms when Quartz crystals grow inside cavities in volcanic rock, with iron and natural irradiation contributing to its purple colouring. In Black Amethyst, darker mineral inclusions and coatings can give the crystal its smoky grey, deep purple or almost black appearance.
